Noah turned ONE today! Wow! His accomplishments include saying Thank You (Da-Doo), and Bye-Bye (Ba-Ba), standing on his own, putting the charm on people with his big toothy grin, he loves to play ball (roll it back and forth), and I’m sure there’s so much more that I can’t think of right now. He’s the best son we’ve ever had!

Well, I’m not a Simpsons nut or anything, but I did find out what I’d look like if I was in the Simpson’s Movie. Let me know what you think! Here I am:

Bella was coloring a picture with Strawberry Shortcake and some of her pals on it and she finished with one of the girls’ hair. She colored the hair black. She showed me and I said “Oh, I like that. I wish my hair looked like that!” She said, “Well, God made you just how you are. And you look like a princess anyway…..even with your messy hair.” Well, hmph! I actually DON’T have messy hair today! Oh well.
Noah started going from a sitting position to a standing position last Sunday. Not holding on to anything. He was VERY pleased with himself and since everyone would clap when he first did it (at volleyball) he would stand and then look around and wait for people to clap. Sometimes he just claps for himself. SO cute!
I was praying with Bella tonight. Here’s the first part of her prayer:
“Dear Jesus, Thank you for Mommy. Please help her to get lots of sleep after she stays up too late. And thank you for Daddy. And please help him to love and honor his wife.”
Yes, I swear that she prayed that he would love and honor me! I don’t know WHERE she comes up with this stuff. I mean, I do, but honoring was never taught in this context, so it’s just cool to see how she transfers it to other things. Wow!
Eric had two games last week and I forgot to wash his uniform between them. When he asked about it I told him I was sorry but he’ll have to wear a dirty uniform. Bella turned to him and said “Sorry, Dad. We forgot to wash your unicorn.”
…if she knew I was telling this story. Maybe she won’t be mortified now, but if she finds out when she’s a teen….. Hahaha!
Anyway, the conversation goes like this (she’s in the bathroom, I’m in the dining room):
B: Mom! Hurry! I’m having an accident!!!
(I run in) M: What’s going on?
B: I accidentally peed some on the stool.
M: How did that happen? (there are two or three little drips there)
B: I was peeing higher….standing up a little bit.
M: What? Why would you do that?
B: I was trying a new trick.
M: Well, that trick doesn’t work. Please don’t do it again.
B: Why?
M: Because it will never work. You’re a girl.
B: Oh. Okay.
So I’m sitting in the dining room, on the phone, and I glance over at Bella who is sitting on our brown recliner chair. Noah’s on his hands and knees in front of the chair and she’s tapping her foot on his shoulder. I thought “this can’t be good!” Boy, was I right! She puts her foot against the side of his head and gives him a good kick, which sent him rolling over onto his back! I did the ole “I gotta go! Everything’s fine, but I gotta go!” hang up. I yell to Bella to go to my room while I check on Noah. The biggest reaction from Noah was a smile thinking I came over to play with him. Phew!
Anyway, I wanted to make sure Bella didn’t do this again so I was thinking she should get more spankings than normal (she usually gets 3 for whatever she does, or 5 on top of that if she also lies about what she did). I thought she should get 10 spankings, but I called Eric first to make sure I wasn’t being unreasonable. I thought it sounded fine, especially since I wasn’t mad at all about the whole thing. Eric thought it sounded reasonable, so I then went to take care of Bella.
I will spare you most of the details. I’ll just say that she FREAKED when she found out she’d get 10 spankings.
Afterward when we were praying together she said to God “Please help me not to be naughty to Noah anymore. I’m sorry I didn’t obey you. I forgive you.” Um, what? You forgive God?
She then had to sit and think about what she was going to say to Noah. Once she figured it out she went and told him (while he swung a hanger around), “Noah, I think you’re soft and squishy. Sorry for kicking you. I forgive you.”
Apparently we need to talk more about what forgiveness is.
By the way, she said she kicked him because she was driving and he was in her way! <insert eyeroll here>
If you’d like to see the pics of Rocky’s wedding, you can find the pre-wedding stuff here: http://picasaweb.google.com/eschlange/RockySharonPreWedding
And all of the wedding and reception stuff here: http://picasaweb.google.com/eschlange/RockySharonWeddingReception
Eric took all of these pics, except for the ones during the ceremony. I took the ceremony pics. We’re waiting to get Drew’s pics so we can put those up too.
Here are a few pics of our 4th of July stuff. We went to Doug and Krishelle’s to swim and have a BBQ in the afternoon, then went down to Library Park with about 8 million other people to watch the fireworks, then everyone came to our house in the evening to shoot of their fireworks. We got to bed around midnight. All 4 of us! The kids were real troopers. Bella didn’t have a nap at all and Noah’s second nap of the day was really short. The pics are with my camera, late at night in front of our house.
