So today has been crazy from the moment I made breakfast. Here’s what has happened…
I made boiled eggs and toast for myself and the kids for breakfast. Noah didn’t like the eggs too much so most of them went on the floor or all over his high chair. I decided to treat myself to chocolate milk with my meal and I paid for it for the next hour. I was sick as a dog!!! Major pain!!! And to make things worse, the house now smelled like farts. Ugh. No more boiled eggs!
Anyway, apparently something hit Noah from the meal as well (although he didn’t get chocolate in his milk) because the kids were playing in their little play area when Bella yelled, “Noah, NO! Mom! Noah has poop everywhere!” Lord, please help me!
I found him with poop all over his back (still fully dressed, mind you), as well as on his legs, on the carpet, etc. I took him by his hands, yelled to Bella to bring a diaper and lots of wipes and I proceeded to change him on the back lawn (which he hated, by the way since it was still wet and poked his bare back, etc). A bee started to buzz his bum so I had to move even faster.
I put him in the bathtub (after the poop was all removed) and decided Bella should get in too since she hadn’t bathed in a few days. So, as they were playing in the tub Noah wanted to keep standing up, so I made him get out early. There’s no standing in the tub! He flipped out and wanted back in. I couldn’t get him out of the bathroom while Bella was still bathing, so I was quickly washing her hair so she could get out too. Noah started crawling around the bathroom in the buff. He also kept trying to climb into the bathtub. Each time I’d put his legs back on the ground and tell him NO! All this while still trying to quickly rinse a crying little girl’s hair. I guess Noah realized if he was going to get back in he had to move quickly. Next thing I know he’s flying into the tub, naked, head first, legs up in the air! He landed on his face down under the water! It was FREAKY! I ditched Bella, grabbed him, he came up sputtering and choking and crying uncontrollably (which I felt like doing too).
After we got over this crazy incident and put Noah to bed I went to find all of the poop he had left all over the house. It was mostly just in one area of the play stuff, but it was on the carpet, on Bella’s stroller, on Bella’s doll bed, on some of the lego blocks, and even on the curtains. Oy! I’m ready to be done with my day!
So Bella’s back. Yay! Kind of. I mean, she’s cute and it’s nice to have our family all under one roof again but she brought her little attitude with her. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have to re-program her much or anything, it’s just the same ole Bella as before. I’m working on a long-term solution.
Anyway, things she’s said:
-Someone asked if she missed her family while she was away. She said, “I was crying one of the nights because I missed Addie and Miss Terrie.”
-When asked what her favorite thing up there was she said, “Everything!”
-When asked if she ever got spanked or put in timeout she said, “Grandma Jo had to talk to me a couple of times when I was naughty, but I don’t want to tell you what I did.”
-When I asked her about the sermon the Joe preached I asked if it was a good sermon. She said, “YES!” But then when I asked what it was about she said, “I can’t remember. He said a LOT of stuff!”
-When it was time for bed the first night she was home she started to cry and said, “I can’t sleep in there with Noah. I don’t want to share a bedroom with him.”
-She’s called both me and my Mom “Grandma Jo” without realizing it.
-She’s already hurt her brother a few times…on purpose, of course.
-She sang or talked all the way from Redding to just before we started into the mountains outside of Williams…pretty much about nothing. That’s my girl!!!
)
I know there’s more, but that’s all I can think of for now. What a crack up!
School starts next week for her. It will be a welcome regular break where someone else can communicate with her for a few hours twice a week. I am mentally exhausted already and she’s only been home 1 day.
)
I love her!
I leave this afternoon to pick Bella up from Redding. I’m really praying that she’ll have had enough of Grandma Jo (in a good way) that she’ll be ready to come home. It’s not that it would hurt my feelings if she wasn’t ready to come back home, I just don’t want to have to deal with her being all bummed out and crying or whining when it’s time to go. Of course, I’m preparing myself for that to happen because most likely she’s going to be amped up from lack of sleep, constant fun, and probably sugar….so she won’t even be able to be calm even if she wanted to be.
) I don’t think any of those things are bad….they just change the game some, that’s all.
I cut Leighton’s hair today. Here’s a before and after. Let me know what you think. Some people said he shouldn’t get his hair cut, others begged him to do it.
Noah added a couple of words to his vocab today. Actually, he may have already said one…..anyway…..
We were listening to Granny (my Mom) on the answering machine and he was getting excited because he recognizes her voice. I said “That’s Granny!” He started yelling out, “Boppa! Boppa!” (that’s my Dad’s name). He said his name perfectly. He knows his grandparents!
And later this evening he and I were sitting around. He held his hand up in the air and said “Five!” As in, “Give me a high five!” So cute! Of course, his “Five” sounded a little more like “Fah,” but I knew what he meant.
)
All’s well at the Schlange house, and at the Sturgeon house (in Susanville). Bella’s been just fine, and we’re all doing fine here. I’m just getting used to things being slightly easier to do with only one kid to take care of (who is yelling for me from his crib as I write this :0)).
I spoke to Bella earlier today. She told me all about her conversation that she had with Eric right before calling me.
) And when I told her I missed her she said, “Don’t be sad, but I don’t miss you.” What a crack up!!!
So Bella left today for her 4 days with Grandma Jo. They left a message around 5:30 saying they made it home okay. Bella took a nap on the way to Susanville and at the time they called they were playing Barbies.
) Bella has her own room, all set up and special for her. I wonder how she’s doing tonight. I’m guessing Grandma Jo will have to lay with her for a long time to get her to go to sleep. We’ll see though.
Tomorrow (Sunday) Bella will be going to church with Joe and Jo.
That’s all I’ve got. So far, so good.
I’ve started following this blog and thought a few of you might find it interesting too. Just entertaining and slightly educational more than anything. I apologize for anything on it that’s inappropriate.

So on Saturday Bella leaves with Joanne and Joe for 4 days, 3 nights to go up to Susanville with them and spend one-on-one time with Joanne. I’m insane. I mean, I don’t know if I was insane before and that’s why I agreed to let my little girl go away for 4 days, or if I’m insane now because of what I agreed to. Anyway, you can pray for me and for Bella during this time. Pray for safety for her, and for peace for me.
)
She’ll be back Tuesday evening. I’ll blog about it each day to keep you informed. I’m working on a plan right now for myself so that I keep busy with something fun while she’s gone. I mean, I still have Noah here so it’s not like I’ll be twiddling my thumbs or anything….. I might bust out the sewing machine. Wherever that might be! I’m not even sure I can remember what it looks like anymore!
So I took pics of Eric’s 3 Softball Championships. I posted them to my very own Picassa web albums, so you can go here to see them:
