Well, I’m totally not motivated to pack today. Oy. Maybe it’s because I stayed up too late last night. Maybe it’s because I’m sick. Maybe it’s because I have been packing non-stop for 4 days and already half of the house is done…. I’m just not motivated! Oy.
So the main bathroom, laundry room, and dining room are done. Partially done are the kid’s bedroom, the “sunroom,” the kitchen, our bedroom and the living room. Today I’m going to try to finish the kid’s room and the kitchen at least. We’ll see though.
I’m sure you’re all thrilled to read this!
The main bathroom is packed. Part of our bedroom, part of the pantry, part of the outside storage area, and part of the kid’s closet is packed. And I’m sick now too. Yay! Gotta go fill boxes! Eric’s bringing about 35 more boxes home tonight!
Most of you won’t care because you’re already inundated with snow, but for the 2 of you who read this and do care, it’s SNOWING IN LAKEPORT!!! So cool! It’s having a hard time sticking because it rained for so long before, but it’s snowing nonetheless! This is perfect weather to pack in….although not really to move in. But who cares. It’s snowing!!! And the best part about it is it won’t be snowing for days, weeks, months on end. Wahoo!
So we found renters, they’ve paid their deposit, their references are all in, and they signed the paperwork….so I officially have 15 days to pack!!! Pray for me! Oh, and if you’re in the area and want to offer up some muscle to help load and unload a moving truck on Saturday, January 12th, come on over!!! This is all very surreal!

(the reason we’re renting a truck!)
So the actual MythBusters show from Discovery Channel was in Lakeport today filming! We went and watched a bit of it and I really wanted Eric to be able to get a picture with Jamie and Adam, the two guys that everyone says Eric looks like. My brother Jeff thinks they are triplets! Anyway, we weren’t able to stay long enough to get photos, so I grabbed a few from google and put them together so you all could see who Eric’s REAL Dads are! Enjoy!
So for those of you who don’t know, we’re trying to find someone to rent our house from us beginning about January 15th so that we can move into a larger house out on Bottle Rock Road in Kelseyville. I listed our place on Craig’s List and the next day we got a response (it’s also in the Record-Bee and there’s a sign up on the front). Today the husband of the family came and looked at the place and said he loved it. He pretty much said he wanted it before even walking around. I kind of had to encourage him to look at the whole thing. It sounded like they just really wanted a house and it seemed fine from just walking into it! Yay!
So the family is living about an hour+ away right now while the man finishes up training for a managerial position at Safeway, then they’ll move here. On top of that, they have two little boys, one is 3 and the other is 1. And to top it all off they are saved! As in, they believe in Jesus and are Bible-thumpin’ Baptists! Man, the Lord really dropped this into our laps. When the guy left he asked that we give him until Monday to work out the details with Safeway to give him his relocation money so he can put a deposit on it. He’s afraid we’ll find someone else to rent it, I guess.
I can’t believe this!!!
We’re just praying that they work out because they seem like really nice, decent people who would take care of our house. As soon as he gives us his deposit we’ll let our new landlords (Uncle Glenn and Aunt Anita) know that we want their place and then we’ll start packing right after Christmas and move in sometime around January 10th to the 15th. This is insane to think about!!! It’s cool to know though that even though we’re moving we can always move back in to this place if we want to/have to.
So you know how you lose socks because the dryer eats them for lunch? Well, I was realizing that Noah’s socks were dwindling very quickly. He has this thing with shoes and socks. He likes to wear other people’s shoes and he likes to take off his socks.
So anyway, I was cleaning his room the other day and noticed some stuff under his crib but near the wall. I pulled the crib out and there was a HUGE pile of his socks. Apparently he’s been (and continues to) taking off his socks in bed and shoving them down between the rails and the wall…just in one place though. Weird!
We just sold our Ford Explorer….for the second time!!! We had sold it to a lady almost 2 years ago and stupidly took payments from her. She missed so many of them (without contacting us as to why) that last year we repossesed it from her right about this time of year. She called Eric begging for another chance and because he loves people he said yes, under certain terms (plus it was right before Christmas!). Anyway, she paid for a while and then missed 3 or 4 more payments and so we just repo’d it from her once and for all. Ugh! She was only like $500 from paying the whole thing off, but after being given an extra year’s worth of time to pay it off (with no questions asked!) we couldn’t handle it anymore.
So, Eric has been driving it to work so people would see it on Main Street. It worked! Someone came by today, paid cash, got is smogged and took the pink slip!!! Praise Jesus! We are done with that thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Christmas shopping is done! Yahoo! A few things are still in route via UPS and USPS, but everything’s paid for and I don’t have to shop anymore (unless any of you crazies spring a party on me!). Of course, I do need to do a Christmas picture/letter/cards. Ugh! That’s harder. And, of course, the handmade gifts I’m doing haven’t been completed either…but each one shouldn’t take that long, so I’m not too worried! Oh, and I’ve done almost nothing as far as decorating goes…but I’ll do most of that tomorrow. No biggie!
My focus for the next two days though is the Bitsculptor End of Year Party. This year it is at our house (so we can video-conference with Steve and Brooke for it!) and I’m making the food. This is the menu– Appetizers are Specialty Crackers and Brie, and Stuffed Star Tarts (they have things like pesto and mozzarella in them!). Beverages include individual bottles of sparkling apple cider, sodas, ice water. Dinner is Tri Tip, Salmon, Emily’s Flaxseed Rolls, Monica’s salad (mixed greens, candied pecans, craisins, green onions, bell peppers, avocados with olive oil & balsamic vinegar dressing), gourmet potatoes and pan-seered asparagus. Dessert is cheesecake from The Cheesecake Factory. Glory!
I’ve just uploaded some random new photos on my Picasa if you’d like to see them. And for those of you who went to the tea…I hope to put the pics from the tea on the Edge web site tomorrow (Tuesday). But don’t hold your breath. You’ll pass out.
