So today my goal was to do nothing. Eric didn’t have any meetings today…which hasn’t happened in SO long, so the kids and I were pretty stoked on today.

Anyway, so here’s what I did with my day (keeping in mind the goal of doing as little as possible):

Got up at 7:30 with Noah (after all 4 of us having gone to bed after midnight that night!)
Make eggs/english muffins/smoothies for all 4 of us for breakfast.
Cleaned the kitchen (hand washing a quarter of the stuff).
Read books to the kids for a while.
Did a Bible lesson with the kids.
Set up art stuff for Bella to work on.
Watched a 2 ½ hour movie.
Walked on the treadmill.
Washed the car and the truck, with the kids.
Took out the trash (in the truck up to the barn).
Drove the kids, Calvin and Eric over to Uncle Glenn and Aunt Anita’s for a little visit.
Played outside with the kids for about an hour more.
Bathed the kids.
Made pancakes for dinner.

And here I am now. Throw in a few tantrums, poopy diapers, a shower, a couple of frustrations, and now a bit of a sunburn (just on me, not the kids!) and that was my day of doing nothing! It really was pretty good!

Oy! I just got over a 30 hour flu. It sucked! Worst part is, I have no one to blame for it! I don’t know anyone else who had it….which means I probably got it from Grocery Outlet or Bruno’s. Yick! Think of the people who have touched those carts!! Double yick!

Anyway, it’s over now, I only barfed once. The worst was the 3 times where I was laying on the bathroom floor sweating and in severe pain everywhere thinking I might die and trying to focus when my eyes kept going black. OY!

My wonderful husband came home early yesterday from work to relieve me. He took care of the kids, set my room up so it felt better in it (even with the little things like twisting the cord to the blinds up so it didn’t bang on the wall when the wind blew in), made the food that we were to take to Community Group, did all of the dishes that were backed up for days, took both kids to CG with him, and offered to stay home all day today if I needed it. I love him!!!

Today is a glorious day for some….for others it sucks.

The sucky part? It’s tax day…and for some of us that means we have to pay a whole lot of money to someone who doesn’t necessarily use it wisely! The glorious part of April 15, 2008? The movie “Juno” comes out on DVD! God bless America!

Bella and Lilla were playing Barbies in Bella’s room today and the following conversation unfolded. They started out jumping on the bed.

Bella: Canella! Canella! Help! Help! Canella, help!

Lilla: I can’t.

Bella: Why?

Lilla: I’m jumping!

Bella: But I’m dying.

Lilla: Oh. Well, I’m jumping…..wait! Look, the police are coming!

Bella: Run!

Lilla: Okay, dis a minute. Bella, wanna change the dresses on our Barbies?

Bella: Oh, sure!

Here’s a link to the pics I took. The beginning is a few pics I took on the way there. The middle is pics at Mobius. At the end is a few on the way back. Not great pics, but still fun to look at! The brick building near the bottom is a pic of Drew’s office building!

Here’s a video of when we surprised Brooke. It’s pretty short and choppy, but still fun to watch!

Here’s video 1 of Brooke’s Roller Derby practice. Nothing compared to when they are skating for real!

Bella’s newest question….

“If people get chicken pox from other people, how did the first person get it?”

We’re home now! Got back late last night. All was well. No one is insane. Yippee! I’ll post more in the next week or so…pictures, a really bad video of when we surprised Brooke, fun facts (like how many miles we drove and how much money was spent on gas, etc) and so forth. For now I’m cleaning/doing laundry/walking around (because I CAN!)/playing with the dog/and whatever else I want to do.

Back on dial up! Wahoo!

Even when clean, nice families stay in hotels things get dirty…..here’s what happened.

So I have, uh, this friend. She took her two kids to a hotel in Shmalem, Shmoregon (I’m surprised you’ve never heard of the place). Her one year old son had wet through his pants so she changed him and let him run around nudey. A bit later she noticed him going to pick up a pod off the floor. That pod was next to another one which both happened to be poo he just let go. Sick! I hope I never stay at that hotel!!!

So the kids and I are on a road trip right now (almost 2,000 miles round trip!), which I didn’t tell too many people about or write about it on my blog because we planned to surprise a few people during it (two avid blog readers of mine :) ).

We left Thursday afternoon, drove 3 hours to Redding and stayed the night with Melanie and Kennedy. SO good to see them! (they knew we were coming).

On Friday we left at 9:30 am and drove up to Portland with a few stops on the way at a park and dinner eats. We arrived at 6:55 pm, in time for a 7 pm surprise birthday party for my brother Drew. He just turned 30! We got to see Andrew and Kelly Hook and Robbie, Katie (Elissa’s sister), and Elissa’s Dad and Grandparents at it. So fun! We stayed the night with Drew and Elissa (Lissy knew we were coming, but Drew did not and was happy), and with Cole, their large German Shepherd. Good times.

On Saturday we started out 45 minutes behind schedule, but still left at 10:45 am heading for Spokane. We arrived (after only one stop) in Spokane at about 5:15pm. Steve knew we were coming, but Brooke, who was having “the worst day of my life” did not. Steve told her he had a surprise for her in the back yard. She came out and saw Bella and Noah standing there and then further back was me! She was very excited and kept saying (about 3 octaves higher than usual) “What? No way! What? What are you doing here? What?” She was so happy and kept hugging me and trying to figure out what was going on. It was really cool!

We’re still in Spokane. We’ve been to a couple roller derby things (practice and wheel maintenance, etc), went shopping at Boo Radleys!!!, watched a chick flick while eating chocolate chip cookie dough, took the kids to Mobius (an indoor exploratorium/fun center) and then to Red Robin, went shopping a little bit more, and so on and so forth. Life is good!

We set out tomorrow to head back home. I’m not sure exactly when and where we’ll be staying…if we’ll do the same trip, just in reverse, or what. It’s not nearly as exciting driving home as it is driving up here. But the kids were great on the way up, so even though we’re all a bit more tired and all, I’m sure it’ll all be fine.

I’ll post pics sometime when I get back. I don’t have anything amazing, but I’ll post them anyway.
