You’d think I’ve been sewing like crazy, but really I’ve only spent a couple hours two different days to make these things! Yay!
The small brown flowered zippered pouch is for a friend’s birthday next week. It’s small, but could hold a few things of makeup, or notions, etc.
The fruit bag is just a fun bag I made incorrectly! Oops! Anyway, it has a pocket inside it and is fully lined. It has one strap shorter than the other so you can hold it as seen.
The green clutch is a larger version of a clutch in the book Brooke bought for me. I made it big enough to hold my Bible and a pen so I can take it to church and just throw it all in the diaper bag.
And the green and pink flowered top is for Bella. It took way too long to make so I won’t make her another one.
Enjoy!
So I may need to start a whole new blog page thing just on the scary things happening at my house. Then I can turn it in to that book that Nancy was mentioning!
Friday morning Eric caught a Stink Bug on the floor in the kids’ bathroom. Yick! And then today I was searching for some Tiaras for Danielle and I to wear while beating the guys at Canasta (just had to throw all of that info in!) and I was digging in a plastic bin that was in the garage and a mouse ran past my hand! How it got in a plastic bin I’ll never know. But it’s the one with dress up stuff in it so I guess I need to clean it out and see what all it ate.
Ugh!
So yesterday I got to do a little bit of sewing. I finished the dress for Bella. It turned out better than I imagined, so that’s a first lately! And I made the purse. The pattern is from the book Brooke got for me. The purse is for me for this summer….I think. I usually like to use purses that have a long handle, so we’ll see. If you want me to make you a purse or bag it’ll cost you about $25. I’ll show more of my designs on here as time goes by so you can choose what you like. They will all be different too. No two alike!
Sew, Brooke bought me a book for my birthday and it’s super cool! You all should get one too….assuming you can sew and read patterns.
I love it! It has tons of great, easy, affordable patterns in it…and it still allows me to put my creative spin on things. These aren’t your standard baptist grandmother’s things to sew!
Today I decided we’re packing up and moving back in to town. I have had it up to HERE with wildlife and country living. I think I’ve braved it long enough and have tried to move past each new scray thing….but I’m done messing around and we’re moving this week!
The latest thing? I found the second snake of the season. The first one was on the side of the driveway. Bella found it. She was walking towards it because she “saw a pretty stick.” When it started slithering away from her she screamed and jumped back realizing it wasn’t a stick. That shook me up a bit. I think it was a rattlesnake, but I’m not totally sure. But, read on….
The thing that has sent me over the edge is the SECOND snake of the season! It was a BABY rattlesnake and it was IN MY GARAGE!!!!!!! I was in the car about to pull in and saw it slithering around. I drove over it but it was still slithering (although it did have some blood coming out of it’s side). So I got out and took a square-nose shovel and started smashing it. Each time I did so it would stick it’s head up back towards me and hiss with it’s mouth open. It was SO sick!!! And it was IN MY GARAGE!!!!! To add to it, today is Monday; laundry day. What normally would have happened is we never would have left this morning and Noah would have been playing in the garage while I was switching laundry around. He would have found it!!!!
I don’t want to be country anymore! I really want to move!!!!
For now though I want to go to my happy place (sewing!!!), but I have to go to the garage to wash my new fabric. ERGH!!!!
(P.S. Please don’t share your stories of snakes or tell me it’ll be fine. I need sympathy and for you to tell me that my life does suck and I should move.)
Here are pics of the shirt I made for Brooke (aka Lu Lu Lunatic!) and a bag I made for a little girl’s upcoming birthday (not Bella’s).
So Sunday morning rolled around and I ran to the store to get a few Mother’s Day cards. One of them was for my sister-in-law, Connie. I wrote “Con” on the front of it, circled it and then asked Bella to deliver it to her on Sunday after church.
Then, at lunch time Bella gave me a Mother’s Day card. I was a little confused by the envelope. On the front of it was “MOM I LUV YOO CAM” in a big circle. I told Bella that I loved her too and was wondering what the CAM part was. She said it was what I wrote on the front of Connie’s card, so she wrote it on mine too. Apparently she thought that when I wrote “Con” on Connie’s card it was some kind of Mother’s Day sentiment. So cute!
So, “CAM” to all of you Mothers out there! Hope yours was a good one!
Sew, I love to so. I have been looking through all my stuff to find some projects for tonight’s sewing night at Anita’s. It’s for the play group girls to work on projects. This is the second time we’ve done it and it’s the best thing ever! I’m planning on finishing some clothes for Bella, making a few bags for little girls whose birthdays are coming up, finishing a roller derby shirt for Brooke, and possibly starting on a shirt for myself (which I’ll probably hate since I’m my own worst critic). I’ll try to post some pics afterwards if I can.
I’m pretty sure that if you look really hard at my thumb, you’ll notice it’s black. I can prove this by having you look at my plants in my house. They are dying. The biggest tragedy is, of course, my favorite plant which I just transplanted. I have no idea what kind of plant it is (why look up the name when you’re probably going to kill it anyway?)…but I LOVE it so I decided to put it in a bigger pot so it could grow bigger. I’m a fool and should have waited until Joanne got here so she could do it. Her thumb is bright green! Anyway, it’s dying now. Hopefully it can hang on until the weekend when Joanne will be here so she can try to work a miracle.
